Here are a few of the things that made 2015 so special for us here at Chasing Zoie.

In January, thanks to my amazing husband, I starting shooting manual when Zach got me a new camera for Christmas. I was completely floored when I got it for Christmas, it was so much more than I expected. I then found myself spending hours trying to master how to use it. And even though I still need a lot of work, I am still so grateful that he knew I was good enough to figure it out. Husbands are so great that way.
I created a Year of 2015 bucket list, and we almost checked off every item… that never happens. We do still need to work on that Date Your Husband thing since we didn’t go out as, just the two of us, as we would have liked. Next Years Goals!

In February I changed my blog over from a blogger account to a self hosted WordPress account. This was only possible due to the help of my amazingly talented friend, Carissa, from Designing Fresh. If you are looking for a fresh new look for your blog or shop, she is your girl!

When March came along we were busy getting ready for our first road trip of the year. I was so excited to get going on the road, I spent all of my extra time preparing. We shared some of our favorite things to keep in our 5th wheel kitchen for when we’re on the road and at the camp ground. At the end of the month we headed out on our Spring Road Trip which had us spending nearly 5 weeks traveling through 7 states (our favorite of which was Utah). Before we left, I shared our cost saving plan to road trip instead of fly to our destinations.

We were on the road for a lot of April, visiting Utah, Arizona, Wyoming, and parts Montana where we collected A Lot of Moments. My husband has worked so incredibly hard the last few years, working 7 days a week most weeks. To have employees that can manage the field work properly so Zach can focus only on the day to day office stuff from the road is a tremendous blessing. We can’t thank them all enough.

When we finally returned home, Spring was in full effect and our yard and garden needed a little LOT of TLC to recover from the wet winter we had. My garden quickly took up a lot of time when we decided to do a Complete Garden Redesign before planting.

May was a busy month for us. Zoie and I walked a 12K race here in Spokane called, Bloomsday. We continued to work on the yard and garden to get things ready for summer. I shared some hard truths about dealing with depression and anxiety. I was finally able to talk Zach into getting some chickens. Zoie immediately fell in love with them and spent a lot time feeding them seeds and worms. There is a good chance they are a little spoiled. It has been so nice having them around. We like our chickens but we love having fresh eggs more.

I attended my first blog conference, Elevate, which had me so far out of my comfort zone and full of anxiety that I didn’t take full advantage of the awesomeness that it was. But it was such a rewarding experience and I met so many amazing women that I can’t wait to go back… and now that I know what to expect, my anxiety levels will be much lower and it’ll be even better than last year!

In June, Zoie completed her first year of preschool. She made some great friends, and couldn’t wait for summer to be over to get back in school. I can only hope her enthusiasm for learning stays this strong all through high school.

With summer came unusually warm temps that helped my garden grow better than ever, we introduced our chickens to the world, and we started our annual Reading Bingo program with the kids. They did better than ever this year with their reading choices. I love that my kids love to read. The end of June brought a Big Birthday for our oldest daughter, Ari, who turned 21!

July was so busy it seems like it flew right by us! We spent the majority of our evenings and weekends on the boat, camping, and picnicking. Not a lot of sharing was done on the blog since things were so crazy. We spent a lot of time with family, friends and the kids, just hanging out. It was perfect.

Once the August heat hit my garden, it took off and didn’t look back. I was giving vegetables away to anyone that would take them and still feeding extras to the chickens. Boy were we spoiled this year. I also shared one of my favorite summer drink recipes, the Red Bull Italian Soda.

In September we hit the road again for another road trip. This time we spend 6 weeks out on the road and got lost in every state we drove through. We even drove 2 hours out of our way one day just so we could touch the tip of Nebraska.

We found ourselves in South Dakota to see Mt Rushmore and the Badlands, Colorado for a beautiful wedding in the mountains, and New Mexico for the Hot Air Balloon Festival. (Most of which I have yet to blog about, but it is coming.) We even took Zoie on her first trip to Disneyland. It was beyond magical.
We returned home from our Road Trip just in time to celebrate Halloween with my parents

November had us celebrating with family over holidays and long weekends. Zoie turned FOUR, which reminds me how crazy-fast the years are going by.

We enjoyed the cold weather that seemed to take us by storm and couldn’t wait for the first snow to arrive.

December has had us cold and buried in snow since mid month. Zach and I made some very big decisions regarding our family and our happiness. It’s the hard stuff that we get through together that reminds me how lucky we are to have each other.

We had our first White Christmas in several years and it was perfect. We’ve spent a lot of the month doing nothing but working in the office, catching up on the DVR and even completing a Harry Potter Marathon. Okay, the marathon was just me, I’ve been thinking about it for years and finally just made the time to do it. I highly recommend it to any fan of the series. Next on the marathon agenda is Indiana Jones; another of our favorites.

We have had an amazing year. One we are overwhelmingly blessed to have experienced.
I can’t wait to welcome in 2016 with the kids and a big bon fire at the neighbors tonight.
This is going to be another great year full of love, family and friends.

You have such great photos from the year. I love the one at the very top and the one with the sphere. I have a manual camera, but I’ve never taken the proper amount of time to learn how to use it fully. I liked reading about your chickens! I toyed with the idea of getting some, but I know I won’t want to commit enough time to taking care of them. You made it sound easy (but I’m sure it’s a lot of work). Best of luck in 2016!

Chickens really aren’t as much work as I thought they would be. It’s really quite fun 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, Happy New Year!
