When preparing to be out on the road and living in our 5th wheel for several weeks, I like to have as much cooking done and out of the way before we leave as I can.
It makes things so much easier when dinner time comes along when I can just throw something in the crockpot in the morning or pressure cooker last minute.
Back when I was preparing for our last road trip, I gave you all a great list of things I like to have on hand in my 5th wheel kitchen to make things easier. My crock pot and pressure cooker are two things I turn to often, especially when traveling in the fall.
This time around I made some great stew packs to keep in the freezer for those cool fall days when stew will make a perfect warm dinner to keep things cozy.
I got all the veggies from my garden and only had to buy stew meat and a stew seasoning pack which was an added bonus.
Frozen Stew Pack
1 lb Stew Meat
3 Cups Chopped Veggies (Carrots, Potatoes, Celery, Onion)
Stew Seasoning Packet (Or make your own)
Water or Beef Broth
Gallon size plastic freezer bag
To put together:
Chop all veggies into bite sized pieces; about one inch.
Remove all air from freezer bag and seal it up.
Place in the freezer until your ready to eat it.
When ready to cook, remove from freezer, thaw slightly in refrigerator, (just enough to remove it all from bag and fit it into crock pot). Then place in crockpot and cook on high for 8 hours. It was also be cooked in a pressure cooker for 35 minutes.
I hope this is as easy for you as it was for me. I made several and had them ready to put in the 5th wheel freezer for chilly nights out on the road.
Do you have a great freezer meal that you often turn to?
I’d love to try it out so share a link below in the comments.
