A BIG Birthday

Today, June 26, Ariana turns 21!

I’ll never forget that spunky little 8 year old I first met 12 years ago. As I walked into her dad’s kitchen full of kids, she was the first one to say “Hi”, give me the biggest hug, and sit next to me to play some card games. Something we still do as often as we can.

She was kind and loving and accepted me as a part of her family from the first moment we met. I’ve always felt like I’ve had a special bond with Ari. We’ve been great friends since the beginning and I couldn’t be more thankful.

Our relationship hasn’t always been perfect. The teen years can be hard on any parent, and being a step-parent gives it a little extra something ‘special’. But we made it through and now I am blessed to not only call her my daughter, but my friend.

She’s our Goofball.

Our daredevil.

Our fearless one.

She’s an amazing big sister. Ari and Zoie share a special bond that I hope lasts their entire lives.

She loves animals, especially her dog Gretzky.

She grew up in the blink of an eye.

She is her daddy’s girl, smart and stubborn, yet strong and hardworking.

She is my friend.

So today we will celebrate her turning 21. We celebrate her turning the final corner into adulthood.
She truly has grown to be an amazing woman and her dad and I are so proud of her.
