The Liebster Award

I am completely honored and humbled to have been nominated for the Liebster Award, not only once, but twice! The Liebster Award is for up and coming bloggers that have fewer than 200 followers, to be recognized for sharing wonderful content and who are working on growing and developing their blog.

I was nominated by Rowan from Funning Up My Life and the Joanna from Faint Not MomThese are both two beautiful and talented bloggers whose stories you all need to be following.

I cannot even tell you how honored I am to know that not only are there amazing women out there that read my blog, but they like it enough to share. To simply say, “Thank you!!” just doesn’t seem like enough.

Feeling beyond blessed right now!

Here are the questions I was given by Joanna:

  1. How did you decide on the title of your blog, and what is it about?
My blog is named after my daughter, Zoie. It was originally titled, Everday Exciting, but after having my daughter and opening my shop, Chasing Zoie became the new name. It was not easily obtained either… I spent weeks going back and forth with my friend, Carissa, on what it should be and how we could market/logo it.
It is also probably not surprising to you all, that this name has became the title of my life, as I am always chasing Zoie!
  2. Where does your blogging inspiration come from?
The majority of my inspiration comes from my life. I like to write about my family and our life in the country and our travels. I am passionate about doTERRA Essential Oils, cooking, gardening, and parenting, and try to share as much of those things in my life as I can. I enjoy sharing and I hope that you all enjoy reading and learning a little about my life.
  3. Can you give 11 random facts about yourself?
    1. I am getting ready to start raising chickens. Can’t wait for farm fresh eggs.
    2. I rarely wear makeup, usually because I get busy and forget, but mostly because I’ve never been very good at applying it.
    3. I really dislike the flavor, chipotle.
    4. I have a serious weekness for dessert! I love sweets and something fruity with ice cream after dinner is a must.
    5. I love the desert. I hope to winter in the south one day.
    6. One of my favorite snacks to indulge in is a big spoon full of peanut butter. I remember doing it with my grandpa when I was a kid.
    7. I LOVE coffee… I go to bed at night looking forward to coffee the next morning. I will drive miles out of my way to visit new coffee shops and try the latest coffee trends.
    8. If I could sit on the beach every single day of my life, I would die happy. My favorite beach is Cannon Beach in Oregon, but I am certainly not against trying out many others to see if I can find another favorite.
    9. I hate chickens… and in the past they have shown to hate me as well. Which makes it weird that I’m getting some… I know, doesn’t make sense to me either. I have researched and will be getting the least aggressive kind of laying hen I can find.
    10. I have struggled with depression and anxiety for as long as I can remember. It sucks but I have learned to deal with it.
    11. I like wine, but have never been much of a wine drinker. I prefer a good dark beer like a porter or and irish stout, especially one with hints of coffee. Yum!
  4. What was your biggest accomplishment of 2014?
Remodeling our house. It was something that I worked very hard on and spent many hours trying to accomplish, between style and construction. It’s been what feels like a never ending feat and I am sure I can think of more things to do, but for now, we are at peace with what we have. It truly feels like our home now and not someone else’s house that we just moved in to.
  5. What is it you love most about blogging?
The friends I’ve made. One of my closest friends, Kristine from The Foley Fam, I met through blogging and now I can’t imagine my life without her support and guidance.
  6. If you had 3 wishes, what would they be?
    1. To travel more, especially over seas. I’d love to visit Scotland and to see my family in Germany.
    2. For my kids to be happy and healthy and comfortable with themselves just the way they are.
    3. To see Zoie live to be a grown woman with a family of her own.
  7. What is one country in the world you would like to visit? Why?
Scotland. I would love to go visit Scotland and see where my family came from. To explore old castles and see the fields of heather, to take in deep breathes of the highland air would be wonderful. I think about it a lot. I’ve been learning a lot about my family and I would love to visit there and learn more.
  8. What are you currently watching or reading?
Currently re-reading and watching Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I even have Zach hooked on the book. We’ve been listening to it while we’ve been driving. It’s such a great story. This will be the fourth time that I’ve ‘read’ it. I am loving the show on Starz and love that I can finally see the characters that I love so much on the screen.
  9. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
At this point in time, I’d have to say Utah. I feel so much more energetic when we are there. I feel like I could go hiking every day and just be a better me when there. The sunshine sure helps my depression and anxiety levels too.
  10. What is something you do when you need to take time for yourself?
I love to get an iced coffee from Dutch Bros and treat myself to a pedicure. Its the perfect pampering, treat, and alone time. It’s a great time killer when I am waiting for Zoie to get out of school.
  11. Where do you see yourself in five years time?
    Wintering in St George, Utah.
A stronger person, both mentally and physically.
The mom of an eight year old… that’s just crazy.

I received a few different questions from Rowan, here are those that were different from above:

  1. What is your favorite food?
It’s so hard to pick because I love food so much. But if I had to pick it would be Chips and Salsa. Pretty much any chips and salsa will do. I can eat that for breakfast lunch and dinner if I was willing to kill those around me with my salsa breath. (wink wink)
  2. What is an item you cannot live without?
My car. I couldn’t possibly live without my car. I know it’s materialistic, but if I didn’t have my car I couldn’t drive to town to see my big kids, and I wouldn’t have a way to get to Montana to see Ryleigh. Things would be very difficult for our life since we live 15 miles from town, walking that distance to get groceries for our family would be awful, especially in the winter. So ya, I need my car. Doesn’t even have to be my car, just any vehicle that’ll get us where we need to go.
  3. A long-lost relative leaves you a large sum of money. What do you do with it?
Oh man, probably invest most of it. I know that is probably a standard answer but Zach and I talk at great length about our future and where we would like to be. I really want to be able to travel and focus on our family in our (hopefully not so distant) future. To have the means to do that is really important, you can’t just quit your job without a way to pay your bills.

So there it is folks. Me. I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit about me and my life.

Part of being nominated for the Liebster is to also nominate eleven others that I believe are deserving of a great up and coming blog award. So below are some of the blogs that I love reading and I know you will too. So find some time and go check them out!

That’s a great list, thanks for including me on it!
#9…I hate chickens–hahaa! So funny. Way to embrace it and get a chicken 🙂 I have step-relatives in Scotland and they live in a bona-fide castle. It has it’s own book! I would love to visit Scotland someday, too. Cool that you have family there, I hope you get there soon! My maiden name is Duffy, so I imagine I could find some distant relatives if I make the trek to Ireland someday…:)

Ya, chickens and I have always been at odds, they don’t like me more than I don’t like them. lol Couldn’t go near them as a kid cause they’d attack me no matter where we were. So weird. I hope you make it to Ireland sometime, I hear it’s absolutely beautiful there, and they make good beer 😉
