The sun has been shining for a couple weeks here now… off and on anyway… and for us, that means it’s time to get the trailer out and start this years’ new adventures.
We recently made our first voyage out of town and drove the fifth wheel about seven hours from home, down to the middle of Oregon.
Where we Stayed:
We chose a fantastic little RV Resort on the south side of Bend, called Crown Ville RV Resort. The next time you are in or around Bend and need a place to park for the night, this place was perfect. Easy to get in and out of, lots of space to park and the best part? They had a fenced, off-leash dog area, which was perfect since we were traveling with Ziva this time. I loved it’s beautiful park-like setting in the trees, but it was still close to town.
The entire weekend was spent just hanging out as a family. Something we’ve been needing. We enjoyed hiking, long walks around the park by the river, and meeting new friends at the dog park.
There was lots of eating at local pubs, and tasting the local beers. Did you know there are more than 30 breweries in the Bend area? I didn’t. But I know now… so much great beer and food to try.
We love trying all things local when we travel.
Where we Ate:
The Deschutes Brewery. The first brewery in Bend, that started in 1988. They don’t just have beer, they also make root beer for kids. As a mom it makes me incredibly happy when a business shows you that your kids are welcome by offering something special just for them. I love that!
Our favorite beers were The Pinedrops IPA, The Inversion IPA, and the Smoked Gose Sour. If you haven’t tried a sour beer it is a real treat. Unlike anything I’ve ever had before. Some of these are available in stores so check out your local grocer.
10 Barrel Brewing Co. This little spot on the west end of town had a delicious pizza menu. Great beers at great prices. Well worth the last minute stop we made.
Bend Mountain Coffee. Here we tried some delicious coffee and local treats. I like a good Macchiato and these guys know how to make a great shot of espresso.
The rest of our weekend was spent doing a whole lot of nothing.
We need weekends like that once in a while!
It feels so good to get away from work and the hustle and bustle of home and just unplug for a few days.
Can’t wait til our next visit to beautiful Bend, Oregon.
There is so much exploring we could have done had the weather been better. I know we could spend weeks here but we only had a few days this time around.
Now that Spring is finally giving us a little warmer weather, we a have a lot more traveling and adventures to enjoy and share! What are some of your travel plans for this spring?

March 15, 2016 at 10:29 amHow fun! I live in Portland, just about 3 hours west of Bend, and we go there at least once a year. You’ve visited some of my favorite spots! I’m traveling a lot this spring both around the US and out of the country, some with the whole family and some without, and most for the blog. Loved discovering your blog!

March 15, 2016 at 11:17 amI don’t know why we never get down to Bend more often. It was a great little town. We love Portland too, we try to go once a year and visit the farmers market downtown and the zoo. Have fun traveling this spring! Can’t wait to read about it. 🙂
