Travel Tuesday – WAHSET and the Klickitat County Fair

This week we are headed out to the Klickitat County Fair.
We are SO SO excited!
Well… I’m SO SO excited! Zoie is excited because I’m excited.

It takes me back to my fair days when I was a kid. I loved the fair. Decorating stalls for our animals and making sure they were all clean and ready for the judges. Spending hours with friends just walking around the fairgrounds checking out other exhibits.
Putting on our dress whites for the Dairy Shows and Pig Sales. I even showed a rabbit once.

It was so much fun, my favorite time of the summer.

This weekend we are headed to the fair with my niece, Kailey.
She will be showing her horse and Zoie will be participating in a few events with her.

Getting ready for this week reminded me that I never shared about the last show of Kailey’s that we went to. Call it #bloggerproblems but I have a lot to share then things get busy and I forget.

My niece Kailey (on the right) is a member of the Equestrian Team at her High School.
We snuck up on the girls first thing in the morning when they were still getting stalls cleaned and horses fed. They were cleaning stalls in their pajama pants; reminds me of cleaning stalls in my pajama pants… because the animals always came first! Makes me wish I was a kid again.

Kailey’s first WAHSET Competition.
That’s the Washington High School Equestrian Team Competition.

She did a great job, especially for her first time competing.

We really enjoyed watching her.

And of course, like all things horse related, Zoie had a wonderful time.

We are very much looking forward to this week.
Camping and Fairs! Two of my favorites in one week!

I’m going to be one of those moms that vicariously lives through her child.
And I’m not ashamed of it, not even a little bit.

I can’t say that I have ever showed an animal, but I love the fair too! It is one of the things I look forward to all year. There is something kind of magical about it to me. Have fun!!!

We love camping! And your county fair sounds like fun. The big thing where I am is the State Fair in Dallas and then the Stock Show here in Fort Worth (where I live).

I’ve been to the stock show in Fort Worth with my dad; at least I think that’s where it was… it was many many many years ago. A state fair sounds fun!

Oh wow this brings back memories of going to the fair as a child for me too 🙂 It was always so fun to watch the horses (I had a lame sheep) and I still to this day wish I would have begged harder to get one myself!
